I get a lot of questions about laminated cushions, especially after discussing it on The Potted Boxwood tour. Here’s my guide to a simple, budget-friendly solution:

The week ahead is going to be a busy one! I’m working on some landscaping for an upcoming outdoor project (can’t wait to share more soon!), and I also have a child home this week for their second spring break of the season—lol. With all that going on, I wanted to send out my usual "Marketplace Monday" email today and include answers to one of my most frequently asked questions. Below, you’ll find a quick run-down along with this week’s marketplace finds (including a special 20% off coupon! + updated list of all discount codes here). But first, here are a few things to know…

Things to Keep on Your Radar:

  • The Sephora sale (for rouge members) is going on now |opens Tuesday for everyone else. I honestly feel like Nordstrom has an amazing beauty sale happening right now that’s flying under the radar—definitely worth checking out if you're in the market for beauty products!

  • Julia Amory’s new arrivals are perfect for Easter and beyond! Use code Alexandra15 for 15% off your purchase.

  • Tuckernuck has an amazing selection right now and lots of great looks in their Easter Shop. I recently did a haul and picked-up these everyday tennis shoes, this dress for a dinner night out, and classic white dress. Don’t forget to use my discount codes for 20% off with YOURULE or YOUROCK!

  • I am a major SAKARA fan and they passed along a 20% discount code: ELIZABETHCOOKSAKARA. I have been recently been enjoying their metabolism bites (calms the food noise) and liquid elixir.

  • Quick note for the moms: My kids have a Danrie-prepared Easter basket this year (because life is wild enough, right? Give yourself some grace!). Use code ELIZCOOK15 for 15% off and finish your kid’s baskets with a click of a button!

  • I’ll continue to add to this collection, but you can find all my favorites for both Easter HERE and Mother’s Day HERE!

  • I recently sat down with Anne Arwood, the founder of Fitted Family. She’s a young mother of two and a breast cancer survivor who created a solution to a tough challenge many parents face. Code ELIZABETH10 will get you 10% off.

  • If you live in Atlanta, I am excited for this upcoming estate sale! You can find interior photos, HERE.

DIY Laminated Cushions: A Budget-Friendly Solution for Durable, Easy-to-Clean Seating

  • Laminated Cushions:

    • I get the most messages about laminating cushions, especially after I spoke about it on my The Potted Boxwood tour.

    • It’s a game-changer for durability, especially in a high-traffic area like our breakfast table.

  • The Professional Approach:

    • The best way to laminate cushions is to properly seal the fabric and laminate it, but it’s a pricey process that costs hundreds of dollars.

    • It’s also an extra step and requires more waiting, which isn’t always ideal.

  • DIY Approach:

    • Instead of going the professional route, I decided to try something simpler and more budget-friendly.

    • I purchased generic laminate from Hobby Lobby, which worked great.

    • Then, I had them upholstered on top of the fabric, and honestly, it did the trick perfectly for me. I asked my upholster (Denise, #404.314.4974) to simply place the laminate on top of my fabric when securing to the seat. It has not bubbled up or cracked. I did not place laminate on a nearby banquette — just in my chair seats as these are the most high-traffic!

  • Benefits of the DIY Method:

    • It’s much more affordable and still provides that laminated, easy-to-clean finish.

    • You can get the same effect without the added expense and complexity of professional services.

  • Conclusion:

    • For anyone asking about laminated cushions, I say—don’t be afraid to try a DIY approach first! It worked for me, and I love the result.

Psttt….My wipeable and reversible placemats seen above can be found HERE + use code YOUROCK to take 20% off!

On my breakfast banquette, I have this pillow and just noticed it’s on sale for under $80! You can also find all catalog favorites, here.
